Interactive Whiteboard Microsoft’s Surface Hub 2 can be upgraded with a CPU cartridge

Technology is taking shape in varied forms to increase our productivity and save time. Tech industry is investing a huge amount in research and development to bring out the best possible innovations for end consumers as well as commercial users. Adding to that Microsoft has come up with interactive whiteboard developed especially for commercial or office use. Microsoft has named its lineup as Surface. Now it has added some features to this product and future upgrades are already in pipeline.

Microsoft’s Surface Hub 2 can be upgraded with a CPU cartridge, but the wait is long until 2020 for the uber cool rotating screen.

Microsoft’s Surface Hub 2 will officially arrive in the mid of next year, but with conditions attached. During its Ignite conference on 23rd September, Microsoft revealed that it is going to offer 2 models of the collaborative display:

    1. The Surface Hub 2S, which runs the current Hub software will now be available in a slimmer 50.5-inch display, and
    2. The Hub 2X, which will offer the intriguing ability to rotate and tile or collaborate with multiple screens together. The Hub 2X won’t arrive until 2020.

Although it seems unfair to wait till 2020 as a bonus Microsoft has revealed that 2S owners will be able to turn their displays into a 2X with just a processor cartridge upgrade.

Microsoft is not alone in this arena. Google’s Jamboard, which has an estimated cost of $5000, makes sense to hustle with a new model before its most transformative features are ready.

Considering the fact that how slowly many companies upgrade their collaborative displays, due to their high cost, the ability to improve them over time with CPU upgrades should give IT departments some peace of mind. Unfortunately, Microsoft still hasn’t revealed the Surface Hub 2S price, but hopefully, it’ll be competitive with Google’s offering and below the $9,000 price for the original Hub.
