Motorola Edge 20 Series unveiled

Motorola has officially unveiled its flagship rivals for 2021, after months of anticipation. Today, the Lenovo-owned company unveiled three new smartphones: the Motorola Edge 20, Motorola Edge 20 Pro, and Motorola Edge 20 Lite. The first two are the company’s flagships, while the third is a more cost-effective option that nonetheless delivers impressive specs. Now, without further ado, let’s get into the details.

Specifications and features

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC in the Motorola Edge 20 supports 5G connection. This chip replaces the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and is a significant upgrade over the Motorola Edge from last year. The tablet will be available in two RAM configurations: 6 GB and 8 GB. The internal storage will always be 128 GB.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC in the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The Edge 20 Lite is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity720 processor that also supports 5G. It has 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal storage. Because there isn’t a smartphone with Snapdragon 888, the Pro will lag behind the competition in terms of performance.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro features a 108 MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 camera, a 16 MP ultra wide camera, and an 8MP periscope module with 5x optical zoom in terms of optics. Instead of a periscope, the Edge 20 has an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. While the third gadget has a 108 MP camera, it just has an 8 MP ultra wide snapper and a 2 MP depth assistance.

The Motorola Edge 20 Lite is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery that charges at 30 W. Because the Pro has a 4,500 mAh battery and the vanilla has a lesser 4,000 mAh cell, the Lite has a larger battery. Both gadgets include a 30 W fast-charging capability. It can carry out SMS share seamlessly.

The smartphones come pre-installed with Android 11 with My UX on top of it. Interestingly, when connected to an external display, all three phones have the Ready for PC interface, which gives them a typical desktop look. The Motorola Edge 20 has a 6.7-inch 144Hz OLED display with Full HD resolution on the front. The display and resolution of the 20 Pro are same. The 20 Lite has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate.

Sadly, Motorola will only be releasing one Android upgrade. That’s unfortunate because the smartphones already run Android 11 and will be obsolete in less than a month when Android 12 is released. In any case, the firm will provide two years of software support. According to the firm, most consumers don’t keep their smartphones for more than two years.

Availability and Price

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro costs €699.99 (£649.99) in Europe. The price of the Edge 20 will be €499.99/£429.99. The Lite model will set you back €349.99/£299.99. In August, the trio of devices will be accessible in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. There’s no indication yet on when the devices will be released in the United States.
