TV news anchor which is not human. China now has a AI humanoid TV news anchor.

It is very well known that China is leading the race across the globe in terms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) inventions and it’s recent invention has taken the world by surprise. China has unveiled world’s first Artificial Intelligence humanoid TV news anchor, that not only resembles a human but also can displays voice and expressions of a real human.

Now, China has got its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) news anchor after Sophia. Sophia is not officially owned by China as it is made by a company in Hong Kong which is independent country but officially a Chinese country (it is a bit complicated). The AI anchor can read news in a synthesised voice, synchronised to sound like a professional human anchor. It is World’s second humanoid with facial expression but first AI TV news anchor. This AI news anchor can read news in English as well as Mandarin.

This humanoid has been created by Xinhua new agency in collaboration with Chinese search engine company Sogou and was unveiled at the fifth World Internet Conference in China’s Zhejiang province.

Being a machine it can work 24×7 and thereby reducing cost of daily TV news reporting, as per reports from South China Morning Post and Xinhua. Benefit will not be limited to cost savings but also there will beimproved efficiency as the AI News Anchor can quickly generate breaking news.

Sophia
Sophia is the first humanoid robot with capability of displaying varied human expressions. Sophia recently participated at the India Economic Conclave, held at NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai, on 12-13 December, 2018 and was the most popular guest among the list of participants. It again desired it’s desire to work in Bollywood movies and Sharukh Khan being his favorite movie star. This only shows the enormous leap AI has taken. Watch the video below:

Sophia humanoid robot, developed by Hong Kong based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia made its first appearance in mid-March 2016 in South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States. Sophia is a sophisticated humanoid robot that can display more than 50 facial expressions.

Possibilities are ever expanding with each passing moment.
